Saying ‘No’ to Knives and Discovering Jesus

Knife crime continues to dominate headlines, leaving communities grappling with its devastating consequences. In response, the Message Schools team is taking a bold approach with their No More Knives tour, bringing lessons, assemblies, and live music directly into high schools across the country.

The tour blends storytelling, practical teaching, and music to give young people the tools to say ‘no’ to knives’ while encouraging them to explore their identity and self-worth. In school sessions, students meet bands and guest speakers, engaging in open conversations about life, choices, and faith.

At the end of each school week, the experience culminates in a live concert at a major venue, featuring the same bands and speakers students met during lessons. More than just entertainment, the event provides a space where students can reflect, ask questions, and encounter faith in a supportive environment.

During one day of the tour in Glasgow, a member of the team struck up a conversation with a student after a lesson. The student admitted they had some belief but had struggled with judgment from peers.

The discussion moved to topics such as life after death, where the team shared what Christians believe about heaven and the gift of Jesus. The student was invited to the end-of-week concert, where they responded to the message of the gospel and made a personal commitment to follow Jesus.

The impact of the tour extends far beyond the event itself. Several young people who responded have since connected with their high school Christian Union to explore their faith further, while others have started attending church for the first time and are enjoying the sense of community it provides.

The initiative is delivered in partnership with local police forces and councils, alongside churches that support through prayer, volunteering, and discipleship opportunities. This collaboration ensures students not only hear the message but are also guided toward ongoing support and growth.

Through the No More Knives tour, the Message Schools team is helping young people make life-affirming choices, resist knife crime, and discover the hope and purpose found in Jesus.
