Toasties for teachers

Volunteers preparing toasties

When teachers stay on after school for parents’ evening, they can end up going hungry as they get home much later than normal. Helpers from Morningside Baptist, Central, King’s Church and Bruntsfield Evangelical Church in Edinburgh have worked together for years to help cater for teachers at parents’ night, which is now headed up by charity Young Life.

This was initially started by parents at Morningside Baptist, who would bring sandwiches and traybakes to Boroughmuir High School, where their children attended. Currently, about four or five volunteers from the local churches chat to the teachers while they serve them in their staff room at the end of the day, and staff are always extremely grateful for this generosity and kindness.

Could you come together with local churches and organise serving teachers in this simple way, a few times a year?
